Commissioner Valeche to Host Grand Opening of Cypress Creek South Natural Area Saturday

Reporters and photographers are invited to join Palm Beach County and its partners for the grand opening of the Cypress Creek South Natural Area on Saturday, December 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

County Commissioner Hal Valeche will host the event, which will showcase the recently restored wetland/upland habitats, new public-use amenities, and a section of Historic-Jupiter Indiantown Trail, a multiuse trail connecting Riverbend Park to Cypress Creek Natural Area.

There will be a short opening ceremony followed by guided hiking, bicycling, and paddling.  These tours are free and open to the public on a first come, first serve basis.  Tours for each activity will begin at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and noon.   For tour descriptions, visit our website at discover.pbcgov.org/erm.

Funding partners include Palm Beach County, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) through the Florida Communities Trust (FCT) program and Land and Water Conservation Fund, Solid Waste Authority, Loxahatchee River Preservation Initiative, and the Florida Department of Transportation.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Kayaks will be provided.  Cyclists must bring their own bike.
  • Temporary restroom facilities will be available during the event.
  • Sign up for guided tours at the registration table.

DIRECTIONS and PARKING:

The natural area parking lot is on the south side of Indiantown Road, approximately 1.75 west of the Florida Turnpike. Follow event parking signs to overflow parking in Riverbend Park and off Gulfstream Citrus Road.  Shuttle service will be provided to the event location.
