At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on May 7, 2024, Mayor Sachs presented a proclamation declaring May 19-25, 2024, as Travel and Tourism Week in Palm Beach County. The travel industry is critical to growing our local economy. The Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council’s agencies, including Discover The Palm Beaches, Florida; the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County; the Palm Beach County Sports Commission; the Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission and the Palm Beach County Convention Center, develop marketing and sales strategies to support tourism, which generates an annual economic impact to the local economy of $10.3 billion. The Tourist Development Council and its contracted agencies work to provide destination awareness nationally and internationally that drives Palm Beach County’s tourism, and have created the “Love the Palm Beaches” campaign encouraging residents to share their love for The Palm Beaches with friends and family, driving visitation to the area.
