At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on May 7, 2024, Commissioner Baxter presented a proclamation declaring May 2024 as National Water Safety Month in Palm Beach County. Florida recognizes May as Water Safety Month, and Palm Beach County recognizes it locally. The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department features 15 boat ramp parks, 14 oceanfront beach parks and three waterway inlet beaches staffed by Ocean Rescue personnel who provide drowning prevention, water rescue and emergency medical response, serving nearly six million beach patrons annually.
