On Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, Vice Mayor Maria G. Marino was honored to welcome attendees to the Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park for the reenactment of the Second Seminole War. This year marks the 186th anniversary of the Battle of the Loxahatchee, which took place on Jan. 15 and 24, 1838.

Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park is one of the most significant multi-level historic sites in Palm Beach County. As a gateway to the Loxahatchee River, prehistoric and historic habitation has occurred along the Loxahatchee dating as far back as the archaic period over 5,000 years ago. The primary goal of the park is to preserve and protect these cultural resources while providing education and passive recreation opportunities for the public to experience this beautiful place and its history.

The Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists conduct battlefield tours at 10 a.m. on Saturdays from October through May. Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park is located at 9060 Indiantown Road, Jupiter.
