At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on June 6, 2023, Mayor Weiss presented a proclamation declaring June 6, 2023, as Gerry O’Reilly Day in Palm Beach County. Professional Engineer Gerry O’Reilly began his career with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in 1988 and in 2015, he was named FDOT District Four secretary. He has been instrumental in many county projects including widening Glades Road, widening Military Trail to add bicycle lanes and widening state Road 704/Okeechobee Boulevard from four to eight lanes. Other projects include the I-95 interchange and auxiliary lane projects, state Road 15 improvements and replacement of the Flagler Memorial Bridge. His outstanding leadership has had a lasting impact on Palm Beach County.
