For the 17th year, the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County presented its annual campaign on October 27 to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to learn and succeed.

The Literacy Coalition and local partner PNC Bank teamed up with Jumpstart's national Read for the Record to coordinate thousands of local adults to read the chosen book to children on a single.  This year's book selection is Nigel and the Moon by Antwan Eady, illustrated by Gracey Zhang, which explores a young boy with big dreams and his journey to gain confidence in who he is.

The literacy event pulls together local elected officials, businesses and individual volunteers, last year reaching more than 29,000 children.  During the 2022 event, Commissioner Marino enjoyed reading to students in the media center at Palm Beach Gardens Elementary while the children read along from a video screen.
