The Seminole War Foundation was hosted by the Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists at a special weekend of events held April 1-3, 2022 in Jupiter. The convocation included special guests from the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and other historical speakers from around Florida and included a tour of Riverbend Park’s Loxahatchee Battlefield. This was the first time in 184 years that descendants of the Seminoles, captured by the U.S. at Fort Jupiter after the Battle of the Loxahatchee and forced to emigrate to the Oklahoma Territory, returned to Jupiter.

Commissioner Marino presented a proclamation from the County Commission in honor of the event, and signifying the County’s commitment to preserving the history of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, and the Great Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
