Commissioner Marino joined Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists and Parks & Recreation officials on a journey back in time to discover what took place during the Second Seminole Wars in 1838 and what followed for Old Florida pioneers.  Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park is on the west side of Riverbend Park, located on Indiantown Road west of Jupiter where the river intertwines throughout

The site bears great archeological significance, with artifacts dating as far back as 5,000 years, to the Archaic Period.  The primary goal of the park is to preserve and protect these cultural resources, while providing education and passive recreation opportunities for the public to experience this beautiful place and its history.  Docent-led walking tours are held every Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
