On March 11, Vice Mayor Hal Valeche participated in Bike to Work Week by riding his bicycle from the North County Courthouse in Palm Beach Gardens to the Robert Weisman Palm Beach County Governmental Center in downtown West Palm Beach.

The vice mayor was joined by Metropolitan Planning Organization Executive Director Nick Uhren. Their route traveled primarily down U.S. 1 over to Flagler Drive, picking up a few other riders at Kelsey Park in Lake Park, and Currie Park in West Palm Beach.

Bike to Work Week was one of the many activities scheduled to promote Florida Bicycle Month and the Commuter Challenge – a competition held during the month of March to encourage commuters to leave their vehicles at home, and support alternate modes of transportation while also promoting better health, decreased traffic congestion, saving money, and improving the environment.
