Palm Beach County Emergency Management officials continue to actively monitor Category 4 Hurricane Irma and its progress over South Florida. The Palm Beach County Emergency Operations Center remains at full activation (Level 1). As you know, Hurricane Irma made landfall in the Lower Keys.

The storm has made a northern turn and is expected to make landfall again in southwest Florida, but this storm has been extremely unpredictable and Palm Beach County has begun experiencing tropical storm force winds and hurricane force gusts can be expected throughout the day. Emergency officials stress the need to remain in place until the storm passes and roads have been cleared and assessed for damage. Please do not become complacent and assume the worst won't happen.

Flood Monitoring
There have been reports of isolated flooding. The South Florida Water Management District is reporting that all pumps are working and water is being moved within the system.

Dike
The Army Corps of Engineers is comfortable with the level of the lake at this point.  The lake right now can handle the expected rainfall from this storm.  Based on the current track, any over wash in Palm Beach County has a low-likelihood of occurring.

Power Outages
FPL is reporting 227,050 customers without power.

Damage Assessments
A small amount of damage reports have come in via the DART application. DART is a great way to report damage to the EOC, but please wait until the storm passes to go outside. If you have life threatening damage to your home, do not report via DART, call 911 for assistance. DART is available for IOS and android devices.
Curfews
A curfew took effect at 3 P.M. Saturday for all of Palm Beach County and will remain in effect until further notice.

In addition to the curfew, the State of Emergency also prohibits the sale and/or distribution of alcohol as well as the sale and/or display of firearms.

This curfew is to ensure the safety of all citizens of Palm Beach County as well as the personal property and businesses in our county from looters and individuals taking advantage of the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

There have been 43 curfew violation arrests reported. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and all law enforcement in municipal areas will have zero tolerance for looting. Please adhere to the curfew.

Emergency Shelters
The current total occupancy of Palm Beach County emergency shelters is: 17,187. Independence Middle School, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary and Westgate Elementary School are at capacity

Closings
County offices and courts will be closed on Monday.
Palm Beach County School District has closed school both Monday and Tuesday
