Community Rating System (CRS) User Group to Hold General Meeting

Body

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2 p.m., the Palm Beach County Community Rating System (CRS) User Group will hold a general meeting of its public and private sector membership.

Currently, 31 of the 39 Palm Beach County municipalities participate in the CRS, a voluntary program that recognizes and encourages community floodplain management practices to lower flood insurance premiums by “going above and beyond" the minimum requirements for the National Flood Insurance Program eligibility.

The Palm Beach County Public Safety Department's Division of Emergency Management designates the CRS User Group to provide practical guidance on preparing for, mitigating against and recovering from flood events. These floodplain management activities provide enhanced public safety, reduced damage to property and public infrastructure and avoidance of economic disruption and loss.

The Florida Division of Emergency (FDEM) Management Office of Floodplain Management consultants will discuss upcoming Florida Insurance Study (FIS) and Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) revisions, formatting local amendments to the Florida Building Code and FDEM support.  This meeting is open to the public.

This meeting will be held at the Palm Beach County Emergency Operations Center, Broadcast Studio, 20 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, 33415.
