South County Regional Park spans approximately 850 acres, west of Boca Raton. Over 300 hundred acres are already developed. Coconut Cove Waterpark, Daggerwing Nature Center, and a wide array of popular sports facilities are enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year. Phase I of South County Regional Park's expansion includes the development of approximately 540 acres of the park—former agricultural land once targeted for residential development. Sunset Cove Amphitheater is the first amenity to open. The amphitheater includes a 1700-square-foot stage with a state-of-the-art lighting and curtain rigging system, an air-conditioned backstage area with four dressing rooms and adjoining private restrooms, a production office, and loading dock area. Outdoor grass festival seating can accommodate up to 3,000, and spacious public restrooms are located nearby. There’s plenty of free parking, and a nearby vendor area includes a patio for grilling and cooking, electric hook-up and water, a covered serving area, and single table picnic shelters. The final phase of development will include another ski lake with a boating center that will complement the new system of lakes, as well as fishing piers, more picnic facilities, playgrounds, bike paths, restrooms, and parking. When complete, South County Regional Park promises to be one of the most comprehensive leisure destinations in the State. |
