We Value Our Community

The Property Appraiser's Office (PAO) has always encouraged employee community service involvement throughout Palm Beach County. Our office is committed to the responsibility of enriching our cities and towns.

We decided to evaluate the community service opportunities within our office and seek input from our employees.

Nominations were submitted (from our employees) for charitable organizations to be considered as the PAO Charity Choices for 2017 and 2018. In total, 24 charitable organizations were proposed and our employees voted this past January. The top two organizations were selected and will serve as the PAO Charity Choices.

They are Children’s Home Society of Florida-Palm Beach and the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League of the Palm Beaches.

The Children’s Home Society of Florida-Palm Beach (CHS) was established in Jacksonville, in 1902. With a staff of two, they found homes for 21 children in their first year. Each year, they help more than 17,000 kids and family members in Palm Beach County. They are determined to create brighter futures for children. CHS assists families with adoptions, foster care, and counseling programs. Other services they offer include community schools, residential group care, children’s advocacy centers and community outreach.

The Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League of the Palm Beaches provides shelter to lost, homeless and unwanted animals, provides spay and neuter and other medical services for companion animals, and cares for, protects, and finds quality homes for homeless and neglected companion animals, advocates animal welfare, community involvement and education to further the bond between people and animals.

In addition to the work with these charitable organizations, we are especially proud of our annual Scholarship Awards program. During the month of May, we award $1,000 each to five college-bound high school students from Palm Beach County. Since 1994, the PAO has handed out $120,000 in scholarship money.
