Commissioner Kanjian Hosts Autism Support Group Meeting

	Commissioner Bob Kanjian plans to employ the Autism Support Group as a sounding board to exchange information and provide input on autism issues and resources.  He empathizes with these women some of whom are parents of autistic children and refers to them as his “Super Moms.” The next meeting of the Support Group is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10th at 4:00 p.m. in the County Governmental Center. « Previous | Next »

Commissioner Bob Kanjian recently hosted a meeting with 15 members of a special autism support group, many of whom were parents of autistic children.  Commissioner Kanjian is a member of the Governor’s Statewide Autism Task Force and a Co-Chair of the Subcommittee on the Costs of Autism.  Prior to the close of the legislative session, the Task Force was successful in supporting legislation to have health insurance coverage for individuals diagnosed with autism to receive treatment.  The Commissioner and his wife, Anne, are parents of an autistic son, Jack, who at age 9 is an excellent example of success with early intervention and treatment.
