At the May 14, 2024, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:
Facilities Development and Operations/Purchasing – adopted “Palm Beach County Procurement/Purchasing Code”, repealing and replacing sections 2-51 through 2-58.
Airports - approved the assignment of the contract for operation and maintenance of Baggage Handling System (BHS) from John Bean Technologies Corporation to Oshkosh AeroTech, LLC. and approved the amendment to the contract increasing the total amount to $2.928 million to provide for the maintenance and repair of the BHS at PBI, including replacement of two baggage claim carousel units.
Community Services: Approved the appointment of Angela Burns and Jon Maples to the Community Action Advisory Board.
County Attorney: Approved motion to amend the Rules of Procedure limiting public comment to board business.
Palm Tran – approved the Labor Management Agreement between Palm Tran, Inc. and the PBC Board of County Commissioners, as joint employer, and the Service Employees International Union, Florida Public Services Union, CtW, CLC representing 44 regular full-time, non-professional, supervisory employees of Palm Tran, Inc.
Planning, Zoning & Building - approved motion to approve on preliminary reading and advertise for public hearing on June 11, 2024 at 9:30 a.m: Repealing Ordinance 2020-028 and Adopting the Palm Beach County Amendments to the Florida Building Code.
Facilities Development and Operations – approved an agreement for purchase and sale of an 8.53 acre parcel of vacant land located on the Bee Line Highway north of Indiantown Road. These are interior parcels located in an area known as Palm Beach Heights (part of the Pal-Mar Ecosite). The Pal-Mar Ecosite is part of a large ecological greenway that stretches from just west of the Atlantic Ocean to just east of Lake Okeechobee.
Approved a Resolution authorizing the exchange of 1.649 acres of County-owned land in Gardens North County District Park in Palm Beach Gardens for 1.722 acres of land owned by the Florida Department of Transportation, approved a second amendment to the lease agreement with the City of Palm Beach Gardens modifying the legal description of the District Park to be consistent with land swap, and approved temporary construction easement in favor of FDOT for the interchange lane at Military Trail South and Interstate 95.
Financial Management & Budget – The following departments presented their proposed FY 2025 Budget in advance of the June 11 Budget Workshop.
