At the Jan. 10, 2023, Board of County Commissioners meeting,
the board took the following action on the regular agenda:
Judge Ed Artau swore in Michael A. Barnett as District 3
commissioner. He was appointed to the position by Gov. Ron DeSantis after
former County Commissioner Dave Kerner resigned. Kerner was appointed executive
director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles by the
governor.
Administration – received filed the Board Directive
Reports, which include in process and completed board directive items.
Airports – approved a one-time purchase of a Sutphen
Heavy Duty Monarch S-Series 750 Pumper vehicle, in the amount of $760,534.73,
for use at Palm Beach International Airport (PBI).
Approved a Master Services Agreement with ARINC Inc., a part
of Collins Aerospace, for an amount not to exceed $1,100,419.37, providing for
hardware and firmware updates to the Common Use Passenger Processing System
used by the airlines operating at PBI, licensing for the continued use of
proprietary software applications, and technical support services, effective
Jan. 10, 2023, and expiring on Sept. 30, 2024, with four additional one-year
options to renew.
Facilities Development & Operations – approved
two agreements for the purchase and sale of 1.3 acre parcels of vacant land
located north of Indiantown Road and east of Bee Line Highway from Maryann S.
Peterson and Jeanne M. Givens for $20,150 and Amelia F. Petravicz for $20,150.
Housing & Economic Development – approved
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Response Replacement Projects Fund awards to
three not-for-profit affordable housing developers. Neighborhood Renaissance
Inc. was awarded $2,358,001 for 43 multi-family units, Riviera Beach Housing
Authority received $409,500 for four multi-family units and Oikos Development
Corporation received $857,000 for 60 multi-family units.
Intergovernmental Affairs – removed for further
discussion, by a 4-2 vote, the Regain Local Ability for Limited Gun Regulation
from the 2023 State Legislative Agenda; and adopted the modified proposed 2023
State Legislative Agenda.
