At the Oct. 4, 2022, Board of County Commissioners
meeting, the board took the following action:
Administration – Received and filed the updated Board
Directive Reports, including in process and completed board directive items
Clerk & Comptroller – denied, by a 6-1 vote, an
emergency one-year extension with Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company for
medical benefits coverage; and directed staff to begin negotiations with United
Healthcare to enter into an agreement to serve as the medical benefits plan
carrier for county employees.
Environmental Resources Management – approved
Interlocal Agreement ICW-PB-22-05 with Florida Inland Navigation District for
$947,875 for dredging Cut P-50 in the Intracoastal Waterway; approved a budget
amendment of $947,875 in the South Lake Worth Inlet Fund to recognize the
revenue from the agreement.
Approved the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection’s South Lake Worth Inlet Management Plan dated July 2022.
Palm Tran – approved ratification of a three-year
Labor Management Agreement with Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1577 covering
Palm Tran bus operators, electronic technicians, mechanic and mechanic
trainees, utility workers and storekeepers.
Public Safety – approved a three-year agreement with
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League of the Palm Beaches Inc. for spaying/neutering
at-risk dogs and cats as part of the Countdown 2 Zero initiative in an amount
not to exceed $900,000 for a maximum of $300,000 per year, with an option for
two additional one-year terms.
Received and filed the memorandum of agreement with the
Federal Emergency Management Agency Integrated Public Alert and Warning Systems
Program Management Office to allow the Public Safety Department Division of
Emergency Management to facilitate the exchange of emergency messages using the
Interoperable System(s) for Emergency Networks for three years.
